contract glassing 1

A few boards I did for a guy from San Diego while I was living in the UK. I think this was 2009. Most of these boards were sold to private clients, except a couple that went to Zuma Jay's in Bude.

Top board has polished and sanded stripes. Just seemed fun at the time. No idea it was a thing.

Same with the bottom board.  I did it as an experiment, and thought it looked neat. I posted it on one of the forums, and lots of people thought it was an bad look.

Funny thing was that right after this, I went to Ireland to help out at Glide, and met with a guy from Ventura who was doing super Gucci glassing. He told me about the distressed look. He called it "hammajeng" and as far as I know, was the first person to do it. Now, it's one of the most copied, and overdone processes ever. Go figure....

By the way, I'm not trying to claim anything, or try to look like an innovator. Lots of people were pushing boundaries, and experimenting with color work, shapes, fins and all that stuff at the time. I was just having fun in my little factory in the Cornish countryside. Intentionally oblivious if you know what I mean.
